Nidderdale AONB is home to a diverse range of wildlife, important habitats and over 16,000 people. It is a truly special living, working landscape, one worthy of it’s nationally protected status.
The AONB team is dedicated to protecting, conserving and enhancing this incredible landscape. To support this mission and guide our nature conservation work, we have produced our first Nidderdale AONB State of Nature report.
In this report, you will find an overview of the wildlife and habitats found within Nidderdale AONB, summaries of the pressures on our natural environment and outlines of the actions that need to be taken to protect it.
Our State of Nature report is an important step toward undertaking landscape scale action for nature in the AONB. It has been produced as part of The Wild Watch, our National Lottery Heritage funded project which successfully carried out the largest systematic survey for wildlife in the AONB. Through The Wild Watch, thousands of people were empowered to get involved with and support their local wildlife.
We hope this report will continue The Wild Watch’s legacy of inspiring people to take action, as well as encourage future partnership working to conserve and enhance the AONB’s natural environment.
