Wild Walks

Whether you are an avid animal fan, or a new naturalist – these walks will make you fall in love with the precious local countryside and its wild residents.

The walks take you over moorlands, along rivers and across rolling hills. The variety of habitats covered make it a perfect opportunity for spotting different animals. Print the walk guides or take them with you on your phone – they are easy to follow and have spotter guides and fun wildlife facts.

Curlew Trail

Starting in Pateley Bridge, in the heart of Nidderdale AONB this family-friendly trail follows a mix of footpaths and quiet lanes. Starting along the River Nidd it heads up through woodland to heather moorland, taking in the magnificent views and abundant wildlife.

Kingfisher Trail

A circular walk that takes you along part of the River Nidd, starting and finishing in the beautiful village of Darley. In the heart of Nidderdale AONB, the Kingfisher Trail follows the river, through woodlands and meadows, abundant in wildlife.

A circular route taking in Darley and Thornthwaite, through beautiful wild flower meadows and ancient woodland, with some unusual historical features.

Birdsong Games

PhD student Isak Herman, working with Planet Birdsong, has developed computer games to help people learn about different bird song through play. Isak is looking at new ways to help people learn about wildlife and nature.
