Cycling

Many top cyclists train in the Yorkshire Dales.

With its quiet roads, great hill climbs and fantastic variety of scenery and cycling trails, it’s an ideal area for cycling.

It’s no surprise that this area was at the heart of stage one of the Tour de France cycle race in 2014 and the Tour de Yorkshire in 2016, 2017,  2018 and 2019.

From mountain biking over the remote Dallowgill moor to a 40 mile road cycling loop through beautiful scenery, short but steep killer climbs to pitch yourself against, and some lovely quiet routes for family cycles – we urge you to come and experience cycling in Nidderdale National Landscape for yourself!

If you don’t have your own bike with you, there are a few local cycle hire companies around, so there’s nothing to stop you!

** Please note that the tourism information on this website is designed to provide an overview of opportunities in the area. The Nidderdale National Landscape team do not have the facilities or resources to deal with individual tourism enquiries and these should be directed to the tourist information office at Nidderdale Plus or one of the other local Tourist Information Centres.
