Otley

Otley is a small historic market town on the southern edge of the National Landscape.

Otley has ‘Walkers are Welcome’ status and has a very popular walking festival each year

The town is known for its former manufacture of printing presses and as the birthplace of Thomas Chippendale, the famous 18th century cabinet maker.

A vibrant community, Otley has a wide range of shops and restaurants as well as the Courthouse, an arts and resource centre in a redundant 19th century magistrates court. The centre hosts a variety of events and exhibitions with a great cafe.

The town hosts the country’s oldest agricultural show on the Saturday before the spring bank holiday weekend in May. There is also a thriving outdoor market held three times a week on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and a farmers market on the last Sunday of each month from 9am to 1pm.
